Miskelly Furniture

Madison, MS

The Miskelly Furniture project consists of a single level 40,000 SF building designed to resemble a Palladian Villa in the Corinthian Classical Order.  Above the spread-footing concrete foundation and slab, tilt-up concrete panels and steel columns support the steel girder and joist roof structure.  The massive tilt-up panels, some measuring over 20’ wide by  34’ high by 4½ thick, were cast on-site and erected during an intense 40 day phase of the schedule.  Reveals were cast into the tilt-up panels to provide the appearance of a stone structure.  Other exterior building elements included pre-cast columns with ornate Corinthian capitals, Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete adornments and a combination of stucco and synthetic-stucco finishes. The interior showroom contains many architectural features including a large centerpiece stone fountain surrounded by ceramic tile.  Additionally, a Haddenstone classic stone temple is surrounded by 4x4’ stone tile floor set in a radial pattern.  Two of the showroom areas feature fireplaces with elaborate stone hearths, wood moldings and large cast stone mantles.  The ten differing floor finishes include a total of three individual carpet designs, brick patterned tile, simulated wood flooring and stained concrete.
